Nylon for BCF or extruded SDN Carpet Fibers
Nylene manufactures advanced cationic PA 6 polymer for enhanced stain resistance in lighter carpet fibers, compatible with acid-receptive nylon fibers for exceptional patterned carpet durability.
Nylene BS-600-CSDN
A Solution to Nylon's Vulnerability to Acid Dye Staining
The Challenge
Susceptibility of Nylon 6 to Acid Dyes and the Risk of Staining
Nylon 6 is highly regarded for its ability to be dyed using acid dyes, but this dyeability also makes it susceptible to staining by natural or artificial acid dyes commonly found in products like Kool-Aid® and other foods and drinks.
Our Solution
Nylene's Solution for Unmatched Stain Resistance in Lighter Shade Carpets
Nylene® BS 600 CSDN, a specially formulated cationic polymer, with inherent stain resistance for lighter shade carpet fibers. Whether used as extruded white dyed BCF or extruded SDN BCF, this unique formulation provides superior and permanent stain resistance. It eliminates the need for additional costly treatments, making it an ideal choice for creating premium carpets that are not only visually stunning but also resilient, durable, and easy to clean.
Enhancing Color-Variation in Acid-Dye Receptive Fiber Systems
The seamless integration of Nylene® BS 600 CSDN with acid-receptive nylon fibers also enables manufacturers to explore intricate and creative designs without the constant worry of stains diminishing the carpet’s appeal. This innovative material empowers the industry to move beyond traditional limitations, offering customers a broader spectrum of visually captivating and long-lasting carpet options.
Proven Results
AATCC Test Method
-
1. Prepaire a Sock
We utilize a knitted sock with three sections, where each section represents a different type of nylon 6 grade: Medium Dye on the left, Cationic Stain Resistant in the middle, and Ultra-Deep Dye on the right.
-
2. Apply Stain
All three sections are then stained with the a small amount of red dye solution to demonstration of the stain absorption and resistance properties of each type of nylon 6 polymer.
-
3. Wait 24 Hrs.
The stained sock is kept under controlled conditions for 24 hours before being rinsed in water to eliminate any remaining unreacted dye.
-
4. Rinse Out The Dye
The dye washes off the BS 600 CSDN but reacted with the amine end groups in the undyed sections of the BS 700A and BS 700D. Residual staining is assessed after drying using the AATCC Red 40 Stain Scale.
Nylene® BS 600 CSDN Tested for Performance
We test the stain resistance of our Nylene BS 600 CSDN nylon, along with our acid dye receptive polymers, Nylene BS 700 A (medium dye) and Nylene BS 700D (ultra-deep dye), using the AATCC Test Method: Red Stain Method. This helps us showcase the exceptional stain resistance of our nylon products and assure customers of their quality.
During testing, we apply a controlled amount of dilute Food Drug & Cosmetic (FD&C) Red 40 solution to the Nylene BS 600 CSDN nylon fabric. We carefully evaluate the fabric for any color change or staining, providing a comprehensive understanding of its ability to resist and repel stains. With this testing method, we ensure that our nylon product meets the industry’s stringent stain resistance standards.
